Basic 5.1 rooms and apartments
The least expensive Denon with current HDMI 2.1 gaming support and HEOS streaming. It is a sensible starting point for a straight 5.1 room, but it has no height channels and no pre-outs, so it cannot grow into Atmos.
5.1.2 Atmos in small to medium rooms
The go-to receiver for a 5.1.2 Atmos room: seven amplified channels, three full-bandwidth HDMI 2.1 inputs for consoles, and Audyssey XT room correction. AVForums called it remarkable value for a first home cinema.
7.1.2 to 7.1.4 Atmos rooms
Nine amplified channels with 11.4-channel processing and full pre-outs, so it runs 5.1.4 or 7.1.2 out of the box and 7.1.4 with a small add-on amp. XT32 room correction is included and Dirac Live is available as an upgrade.
