1. Budget 5.1 starting point
Denon AVR-S670H
- 5.2 channels, 75 W/ch
- 3 of 6 HDMI inputs 8K/4K120
- Audyssey MultEQ
- Dual sub outs, no pre-outs
The AVR-S670H is a 5.2-channel receiver with 75 watts per channel, three 4K120-capable HDMI inputs, and dual sub outs, and it is the least expensive Denon with current gaming support and HEOS. It runs base Audyssey MultEQ rather than XT. If your room is a straight 5.1 for now and you want the same interface and HDMI board as the bigger Denons, it is a sensible place to start.
Caveat: Five channels and no pre-outs means it cannot add height speakers later, so it is a stepping stone rather than an Atmos receiver.
