Black Friday 2026: AV receivers
Black Friday AV receiver deals
The receiver is the heart of a surround sound system, and the part people most often outgrow. Receivers discount modestly, so our target is 15 percent under the typical street price.

Buy for the number of speakers you will own in three years, including Dolby Atmos heights. A receiver that is one channel short is not a deal at any price.
From November 9 we check these prices twice a week through Cyber Monday and mark each pick that hits its target.
Typical prices are what each product actually sold for when we last checked, in October 2026, not list prices. Targets are our judgment of a price worth acting on, not a forecast of what any retailer will charge.

What to expect
How these go on sale
Receiver generations change slowly
A new receiver line often brings small changes over the one before. That makes the previous model at a clearance price one of the best holiday buys in home theater, as long as it has the HDMI 2.1 inputs you need.
Bundles hide weak speakers
Boxed surround systems pair a receiver with small speakers to hit a headline price. A receiver here plus a pair of our budget speakers usually sounds far better for similar money.
Room correction matters more than watts
The gap between 80 and 100 watts per channel is about 1 dB. Room correction quality and pre-outs for a future amplifier make more difference.

Common questions
- What is a good Black Friday price for the Denon AVR-X1800H?
- $720 or less. It typically sells for $849, and it is our default for a first 5.1.2 Dolby Atmos room.
- What is the best cheap receiver to buy on Black Friday?
- The Denon AVR-S670H at $440 or less covers a 5.1 room with a console. If you might add Atmos speakers later, the step up to the AVR-X1800H is worth it.
- Is a home theater in a box a good Black Friday deal?
- Rarely. The speakers in boxed systems are usually the weak link, and they cannot be upgraded piece by piece. A separate receiver and speakers cost a little more and can grow with the room.
- Which receiver should I wait for if I want 7.1.4?
- The Denon AVR-X3900H at $1,570: nine amplified channels and 11.4 processing, with pre-outs for a two-channel amp to complete 7.1.4.
