QLED
A marketing term for an LCD TV that uses a quantum dot film to widen color gamut and improve brightness, not a self-emissive technology.
QLED describes an LCD with a quantum dot layer between the blue LED backlight and the liquid crystal panel. The dots convert part of the blue light into pure red and green, giving more saturated and efficient primaries than a white LED backlight.
The name invites comparison with OLED, but the panel is still a backlit LCD, so black level and viewing angle depend on the dimming system rather than the quantum dots. What QLED reliably delivers is wide color and high brightness.
Quantum dot LCDs commonly cover 90 percent or more of DCI-P3 and reach 1,000 to 2,000 nits. Compare zone count and panel type rather than the label; a QLED with Mini-LED backlighting is a very different product from an edge-lit one.
